Heirloom Tricks for your Kids’ Precious Outfits - designer kids clothing

My Grandma used to call it her ‘Church dress’, my mum, her ‘going out dress’ and I call it the ‘don’t ruin that dress … your sister’s going to wear it’ dress. We all have them - the good outfit for parties and special days and I’m sure your little ones grow out of theirs after wearing it once! And a week before the outing that needs a ’special outfit’ too.
Of course before they grow out of it, without a doubt there will be that bolognese sauce stain right down the front, especially if it’s a white dress!
Keeping your kids’ precious outfits in great condition - to be worn often and for a number of siblings, takes a few easy steps and basic tips:
1. Wash these outfits within a few hours of wearing. Do not throw them into the laundry hamper, especially if there are heavily soiled or wet clothes in there already.
2. Wash in a good quality woolmix as these products are free of bleach. A very good supermarket brand is the Earth brand, which is also kind to the environment.
3. Place outfits into a laundry bag. An absolutely delicious one is from Murchison Hume, although you can grab an inexpensive one from your local supermarket.
4. For stubborn stains, rub a little shampoo on to the stain and then wash.
5. Try to resist using the bleach based ’soakers’ as they create the illusion of brighter whites by adding a blue tinge and are very hard on clothing fibres.
6. Roll washed and wet clothes in a clean towel and then lay flat to dry.
7. Use wooden children’s coat hangers, not cheap plastic ones. Great hangers in several colours are available from Howards Storage World.
8. Only dry clean ‘dry clean only’ clothes.
9. To store clothes for the next little one, wrap garment in blue tissue paper which is acid free and available from drycleaners and then place in a box with a lid. Place a photo of the garments on the box with the season and age written clearly. It means you will resist opening the box for a peak! Do not use space bags. Your clothes will yellow.
10. make sure you photograph your child in the outfit - this will preserve it for a lifetime!

Over here at the House we adore, love and cherish our Oobi clothing range. Winter 09 is once again a stunning collection with great basics and some fabulous fashion pieces for girls and boys.
